The Godfather meets
2001: a Space Odyssey

Textbook techno‑thriller DNA with a speculative fiction soul, Death in the Kremlin is everything ambitious geopolitical fiction should be. Whenever rival world powers are involved, the stakes are high, but pitting one of the most internationally recognized heads of state against a digitized man loose in the global network feels like the new face of war.

Follow the story of Alex Nicholas, an underworld figure who duplicates himself on a computer—just before he’s murdered.

Michael Nicholas, Alex's younger brother, is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Michael and his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Sofia, lead a charmed life in wealthy Westport, Connecticut. Life is good and rich, and Michael fears nothing except becoming entangled in his brother’s life.

Then Alex is gunned down at a Queens restaurant.

Unbeknownst to Michael, before Alex's untimely death he had hired a team of computer experts to create a cutting-edge virtual reality software program that could give Alex immortality. Every facet of Alex's personality—from expressions and gestures to emotions, feelings, and memories—was replicated in this top-secret software. It even allows Alex to continue to learn and grow as a virtual being.

At Alex's funeral his widow, Donna, begs Michael to tie up all the loose ends of Alex's business. Suddenly Michael finds himself taking on the unthinkable.

So begins Michael’s double life and Alex’s afterlife.
